Adolescent Treatment, Private Therapy or Self-Help Support Groups?

to meet your individual needs.
Teenage Drug Abuse - Intervention
Facing
teenage drug abuse head-on is the only way to curb this ever-growing problem.
Intervention with your teenager maybe your only option to help your
teenage drug abuser get the help
they need.
An
intervention is an orchestrated attempt by one, or often many, people (usually
family and friends) to get the
teenage drug abuser
to seek professional help with an addiction or some kind of traumatic event or
crisis. The term intervention is most often used when the traumatic event
involves addiction to drugs or other items. Intervention can also refer to the
act of using a technique within a therapy session.
Intervention works!

Addiction Treatment works! However, it can be difficult to get an individual to
treatment. Most people do not know the exact nature of the problem or situation
for which self-medication behavior eases the pain. Whether it is the teenager
that is abusing alcohol or drugs, or the loved ones involved, most people are
unable to identify the underlying issues, prior to starting treatment. A
teenager might be struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health
issues. Trauma or a lack of appropriate coping skills might also be the
underlying issues. Regardless, an Intervention works and adolescent treatment
works, if the individual struggling with addiction can find his/her way to help.
Teenage drug abuse can
tear a family apart. When your child is abusing drugs and acting out as a
result, you can feel helpless. It is hard sometimes to accept the fact that your
child who was so sweet just a few years ago is now addicted to drugs and
dependent on their substance or substances of choice. Addiction is typically not
associated with being a teenager. When we think of addicts, we picture the
alcoholic who has been drinking for over 20 years, or the street addict who
panhandles for money to buy drugs. When your child is showing signs of teen
drug abuse, tough decisions need to be made. Often times your efforts
will produce no results, and your child will continue to abuse drugs.

Mental Health
Treatment Resources
goal is to provide the treatment and support services needed by adults with mental health concerns and children with serious emotional problems. Almost 50 million adults in the US are affected by mental illness yearly, and more than 5 million adults and children are diagnosed with a mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe depression.
People with serious mental illnesses often need assistance with finding treatment, housing, aftercare planning, follow up and other aspects of treatment process.
Mental illness can be treated effectively, and people can and do recover. Most people with mental illnesses experience success at work, raise healthy families, and live in harmony with their neighbors. However, recovery depends on getting services when and where they are needed-preferably early in the course of the onset of the illness.
Substance Abuse
Many people use alcohol and other drugs. Some develop serious problems which require professional help, such as
inpatient detox, residential treatment, outpatient treatment, twelve step programs, and dual diagnosis units. Other
psychiatric disorders often co-exist with substance abuse problems and need assessment and treatment.
There are a variety of substance abuse treatment programs and the decision to get treatment is very difficult. We can help you find the right resource to explore.
Detox
Alcohol and most drug addictions require detoxification
before beginning treatment and recovery. An individual needs to be clean and medically stable in order to fully participate in the treatment process.
Detox is provided in a licensed medical facility, usually a hospital or at a treatment center and includes
emotional stabilization. The time required for detoxifying varies depending on the individual and what substance is involved. Trying to detox without the proper professional help is very dangerous and can lead to serious physical, psychological and emotional distress.
